Auto Body Shop Painter Apprentice

*Job Summary* As an Auto Body Shop Painter Apprentice, you’ll build hands-on skills in automotive surface preparation and body refinishing while supporting experienced shop professionals. You’ll help prepare vehicles for paint, apply coatings, and complete finishing work with care and attention to detail. This is a paid apprentice position with practical experience across auto body repair and restoration. *Responsibilities* * Prepare vehicle surfaces by sanding, masking, and cleaning; follow respiratory protection and shop safety procedures. * Assist with paints, painting and coating spray guns, conventional spraying, and airless paint spraying under supervision. * Support auto body repair, automotive body refinishing, auto painting, and auto restoration tasks. * Use hand tools, power tools, and grinders; assist with welding, vehicle maintenance, and auto glass work as assigned. * Perform automotive buffing, detailing, and quality checks; help with estimates and customer service as needed. *Requirements* * Interest in learning auto body painting and repair; dealership experience is a plus. * Basic mechanical knowledge and familiarity with hand tools or power tools are helpful. * Able to follow instructions for surface preparation, masking, sanding, paint application, and respiratory protection. * Able to perform heavy lifting and work safely around shop equipment and materials. * Automotive buffing, auto estimating, vehicle maintenance, welding, auto glass, and detailing experience are preferred, not required.
