Field Mechanic - Heavy Equipment Apprentice

Crown Alaska Inc. *Job Title:* Field Mechanic - Heavy Equipment Apprentice (Full-Time) *Location:* Florence OR - Operations occur within 150 air-mile radius *Salary: Starts at $22/hr. *(Based on experience) *Job Summary:* We are seeking an organized, dependable, and proficient mechanic to join our logging company. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of technical tools, be able to diagnose and resolve mechanical problems efficiently, and be flexible, since the responsibilities for this job are wide ranging. *Responsibilities:* * *Diagnostics & Troubleshooting:* Inspect and test diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical wiring, and transmissions using computerized diagnostic software and handheld tools. * *Field Repairs & Overhauls:* Replace worn or broken parts (such as bearings, gears, pumps, cylinders, and undercarriages), perform welding and fabrication, and fix HVAC or brake systems. * *Preventative Maintenance*: Conduct routine oil changes, fluid sampling, filter replacements, and safety inspections to minimize machine downtime. * *Service Truck Management*: Keep a company-provided service truck clean, organized, and stocked with parts, tools, and safety equipment. * *Documentation*: Log completed repairs, track parts orders, and submit electronic service reports. *Requirements:* * *Experience*: 3+ years of hands-on experience working on heavy diesel equipment, construction machinery, or fleet vehicles. * *Technical Skills*: Proficiency in diesel/gasoline engines, mobile hydraulics, 12V/24V electrical systems, schematics, and welding/fabrication. * *Education & Certifications*: High school diploma or GED; vocational or post-secondary degree/certificate in diesel technology or heavy equipment mechanics is strongly preferred. * *Licenses & Physical Ability*: Valid driver's license (CDL Preferred or ability to meet DOT standards), ability to lift heavy parts, and comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions. * *Tools*: Must provide basic personal hand tools, while specialized diagnostic software and service trucks are supplied by the employer. *Benefits:* * Health/Vision/Dental Insurance * 401(k) Job Type: Full-time Pay: From $22.00 per hour Benefits: * 401(k) * Dental insurance * Health insurance * Vision insurance Education: * High school or equivalent (Required) License/Certification: * Driver's License (Required) Work Location: In person
