The ideal candidate will have basic mechanical knowledge, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn. This position will assist our experienced mechanics with maintaining and servicing our fleet of commercial trash and recycling trucks. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in diesel truck maintenance and develop their mechanical skills. Job Responsibilities * Perform routine preventive maintenance (PM) on commercial trucks and equipment. * Assist mechanics with repairs and maintenance of diesel trucks. * Perform oil changes, replace filters, lubricate chassis components, and check fluid levels. * Inspect tires, brakes, hoses, belts, and other vehicle components. * Assist with identifying mechanical problems and reporting needed repairs. * Help maintain and organize tools, equipment, and the maintenance shop. * Complete preventive maintenance inspection forms and service records. * Assist with minor repairs and replacement of parts under the direction of experienced mechanics. * Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean, safe work environment. * Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned. Qualifications * Basic knowledge of automotive, truck, or diesel mechanics preferred. * Previous experience performing oil changes, lubrication services, or general vehicle maintenance is a plus. * Ability to use basic hand tools and shop equipment. * Willingness to learn and follow instructions from experienced mechanics. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Must be dependable, punctual, and detail-oriented. * Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work, including bending, standing, and working around large commercial vehicles. * Valid driver's license preferred. * Experience working on commercial trucks, diesel engines, or heavy equipment is a plus but not required.
