VPC Electric is a family-owned electrical contractor that has served the Inland Northwest for 22 years. We’re hiring an electrical apprentice with at least two years of hands-on electrical experience, current apprentice or trainee credentials in both Idaho and Washington, and active enrollment in an electrical apprenticeship training program.
We’re looking for someone who takes initiative, wants to learn, and understands that a productive apprentice helps the entire team succeed.
Your role on the team
Your primary responsibility is to help the journeyman complete safe, professional installations as efficiently as possible. That means being prepared, anticipating the next task, keeping materials and tools organized, and staying engaged throughout the job.
You should be comfortable asking questions, following direction, accepting correction, and applying what you learn. When you finish a task, we expect you to identify the next useful step within your training and assigned responsibilities—or ask the journeyman what needs attention.
What you’ll do
* Assist journeymen with residential service and small to medium commercial projects.
* Help with troubleshooting, panel upgrades, remodels, dedicated circuits, lighting, EV chargers, hot tubs, and generators.
* Prepare tools and materials and keep work areas organized.
* Perform assigned installation tasks under appropriate supervision.
* Proactively study and apply NEC requirements and proper installation methods.
* Plan ahead with the journeyman to reduce unnecessary trips, delays, and rework.
* Protect customers’ property and clean as work progresses.
* Communicate respectfully with customers, coworkers, and the office.
* Assist with job documentation, photos, and material records in ServiceTitan.
* Take responsibility for your work and apply feedback to future assignments.
Qualifications
* Minimum two years of hands-on electrical experience.
* Current Washington electrical trainee certificate and Idaho electrical apprentice registration/card.
* Active enrollment in an electrical apprenticeship training program.
* Commitment to completing coursework and progressing toward journeyman credentials.
* A developing understanding of the NEC and a willingness to research requirements.
* Initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to follow instructions.
* Good judgment about when to proceed and when to ask for guidance.
* Dependability, a strong work ethic, and respect for customers’ homes and businesses.
* Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a company vehicle when assigned.
Compensation, benefits, and training
* Pay based on experience and qualifications.
* 100% employer-paid medical coverage for the employee.
* Dental and vision coverage.
* $25,000 life insurance policy.
* Paid vacation and paid holidays.
* Bonus opportunities.
* 401(k) plan with a 3% employer match.
* Company reimbursement for apprenticeship schooling, with program details discussed during the hiring process.
* Relocation assistance negotiable for the right candidate.
* Normal hours of Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
* Primarily local work, with employees home every night approximately 95% of the time.
