Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Helper

*HVAC HELPER WANTED — MUST PLAY WELL WITH OTHERS* Apparently, we need to add that to the job description. White River Mechanical is hiring an HVAC Helper in the Branson/Springfield area. We're looking for someone who works hard, shows up on time, takes direction, and possesses the basic social skills necessary to work around other human beings. You'd think that last part would go without saying. *Apparently not.* Let's start with the basics. *1. SHOW UP TO WORK. ON TIME.* Not "I'm five minutes away" when you haven't left the house. Not whenever you feel like it. On time. We're not asking you to solve world hunger. Just own an alarm clock. *2. ACTUALLY WORK WHEN YOU GET HERE.* This is HVAC. We install, repair, carry, climb, crawl, sweat, and occasionally question the architectural decisions of whoever designed the house. If you're looking for a job where you can spend eight hours scrolling TikTok while someone else does the heavy lifting, this isn't it. *3. BE ABLE TO TAKE DIRECTION.* We don't expect you to know everything about HVAC. We DO expect you to listen, learn, and follow instructions. If you've got 15 years of experience, great! If you've got zero experience but a good attitude and mechanical aptitude, also great! If you think every instruction is a personal attack on your intelligence, we're probably not going to get along. *4. DON'T BE A JERK.* I cannot believe this needs its own section in a job posting, but here we are. You will work alongside other people. Some will know more than you. Some will know less. Occasionally, someone will disagree with you. This is called having a job. We expect you to handle disagreements like a functioning adult. No threats, no intimidation, no temper tantrums, and no turning a Tuesday morning into an episode of _Cops_. *We have enough tools in our trucks. We don't need another one on the payroll.* *5. BE WILLING AND ABLE TO DO HVAC WORK.* That means ladders, crawl spaces, attics, lifting materials, working outdoors, and getting dirty. Some days will be hot. Some days will be cold. Some days you'll discover that a 200-pound man was apparently never intended to fit through a 14-inch opening. Welcome to HVAC. *6. LEAVE THE DRAMA SOMEWHERE ELSE.* We're a small company. We work together. We joke around. We get frustrated sometimes. We also expect everyone to treat their coworkers with respect. If you've had problems with every boss, every coworker, and every company you've ever worked for, there's a small possibility that the common denominator isn't everyone else. Just something to consider.
